Julian J.B. Lineham, P.E., P.A., C.Eng, M.I.C.E.

Julian Lineham, a founding Principal of Studio NYL, spent the first ten years of his career in London with some of England’s leading structural engineering firms: YRM Architects and Planners, Campbell Reith Hill and Oscar Faber PLC. While in London, Julian led structural engineering teams on many notable projects including Microsoft UK’s prestigious headquarters campus, the re-development of the twelve-story historic structure, No. 1 Princes St., in the heart of the City of London, and the New British Embassy in Oman. He worked on several international design competition entries, including one for the Tokyo Forum.

In 1997 Julian moved with his family to Colorado and joined Loris and Associates. He immediately began developing relationships with leading architects in the region by sharing both his passion for architecture and his global design experiences.

Julian’s extensive and varied experience includes work on a wide range of building ages, sizes, types and forms for a variety of educational, institutional, commercial and residential clients. He uses both traditional structural materials (steel, concrete, timber and masonry), and non-traditional (aluminum, cast and wrought iron, composites and straw-bale), and combines structural systems in innovative ways to solve both simple and complex structural problems.

Julian has designed numerous projects involving exposed and aesthetic structures that have earned him a reputation for creative and innovative structural design. Some of these noteworthy projects in Colorado include the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center, Kent Denver Science Building, The Broadmoor’s Events Center and Brighton’s proposed High School #2. 

Julian currently chairs the Structural Engineers Association of Colorado (SEAC)/American Institute of Architects (AIA) Architectural Liaison committee whose mission is to advance and improve working relationships between structural engineers and architects. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Colorado at Denver and was part of the client team for developing the new Stargate Charter School in Thornton. Julian is a licensed PE and also holds a Chartered Engineering license in England.
